The aim of the Finnish Shipowners&#8217; Association is to develop maritime safety and technology. Finland&#8217;s maritime safety legislation is based on IMO and EU legislation, and vessel safety is supervised in Finland by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.traficom.fi\/fi\">Traficom<\/a>) with the assistance of classification societies.<\/p>\n<p>The Finnish Shipowners&#8217; Association monitors the development of maritime safety regulations and influences their content through their own umbrella organizations ECSA (European Community Shipowners&#8217; Associations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecsa.eu\/\">ECSA<\/a>) and ICS (International Chamber of Shipping <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ics-shipping.org\/\">ICS<\/a>) and by participating in Traficom (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.traficom.fi\/fi\">Traficom<\/a>) and the Ministry of Transport and Communications (<a href=\"https:\/\/lvm.fi\/etusivu\">lvm<\/a>) for the preparation of legislation.
