Fairway due

A vessel performing merchant shipping in Finnish waters pays a fairway due to the state. The amount of the fairway due depends on the vessel’s net tonnage, i.e. the size of the vessel, and the vessel’s ice classification. A higher ice classification lowers a vessel’s due. This system was created to promote shipping that considers Finnish winter conditions and the environment.
